Artificial Intelligence in Allied Health Newsletter - November 2025
Nov 12, 2025I can’t believe it’s already November and the end of the year countdown has begun! This month is shaping up very busy with conference season in full swing. I’m excited to finish off the month with the Australasian Institute of Digital Health AICare conference. I’m particularly interested to see what’s happening across Australia in the medical/ hospital AI space and how the conversation has shifted from last year (I’ll share my thoughts and learnings). I’m also excited for next year’s conference schedule, with sessions locked in at the World Federation of OT conference in Thailand and the American OT Association conference in California in the first half of the year.
Finally, as we wind down the year, I’m starting to think about next year and how I can add better value to you and your practice on your journey with AI and tech. About mid-way down this email, you’ll find a link and a favour request, I’d love it if you could give me some guidance on what support you need moving forward into 2026. As always, thank you so much for being part of this community!
Industry News
Last month we had lots of big updates from the main AI companies as they all launched their product roadmaps and updates. This month has ticked along with general updates to each of the AI models, AI chip and data centre moves, sales and acquisitions but nothing necessarily major that impact’s our work.
Perplexity have released their Comet AI browser free for everyone to access. The tool can use it’s own browser window to search and summarise content, complete tasks and act on user prompts, like booking a table at a restaurant or drafting an email. It now joins a few of the other LLMs with browser agents, like Manus and ChatGPT.
Quick Favour
May I ask a favour please? I’m planning what to focus on next year and would love your thoughts. It’s 3 quick questions (less than a minute) to help me shape resources and training that support you better. I would be very grateful, thank you!
Research
As you all know, we’ve seen AI tools filter through documentation uses first. A study published this month explored the perspectives of health professionals and students of AI clinical documentation tools. The study explored how healthcare professionals and students in Saudi Arabia perceive and adopt AI in clinical documentation. They surveyed participants including physicians, nurses, allied health and students. They found that physicians showed lower confidence in the accuracy of AI than nurses and allied health professionals. It also showed a gap between knowledge of artificial intelligence and it’s application, with only 41.2% of respondents using AI documentation tools. 76.5% of respondents believed AI was more efficient in clinical documentation than physicians but 53.8% stated AI was not more accurate than physicians. Finally, 89% of participants called for more education on AI use and 82% highlighted the need for clear institutional guidelines.
Implications for practice
This reinforces that while clinicians and students recognise AI’s potential to streamline documentation, confidence in accuracy and privacy safeguards is still a critical barrier to adoption. For us in allied health, this highlights the importance of embedding AI literacy and documentation training into education and into our practices and ensuring we have guardrails to guide our teams on safe, ethical and effective use of AI in clinical documentation.
WORK Journal Special Edition on AI
I’m the guest editor for a special issue of WORK: A Journal of Prevention, Assessment & Rehabilitation, focussing on Artificial Intelligence. We’d love to see your submission on a broad range of topics related to AI.
Submissions deadline February 1, 2026
Prompt of the Month
Each month, I’ll be sharing a useful AI prompt designed to enhance your practice.
Prompt:

Tried this prompt? Send me an email and let me know how you found it!
