Artificial Intelligence in Allied Health Newsletter - October 2025

Oct 14, 2025

Thank you for being here, I really value the community we’ve built to support each other with implementing technology and innovation into our everyday practice. This month we had important discussions in our Group Chat about home modifications automations, working amongst sector reform and ethical use responsibilities highlighted by some high profile AI use case issues this month. If you haven’t made it along to the group chat, it really is such a great time with a great bunch of fellow clinicians and we all take so much value, so I’d love to see you at the October session. I’m also very excited to announce the launch of my 6 week group program, which will see you finishing the year with a streamlined or automated process up and running in your day to day work. It’s a group based program and there are only 20 spots available to keep it to a small supportive group. If you’re interested, you’ll find more information at the bottom of this newsletter in the Events section.

Industry News

Claude released its newest model, Sonnet 4.5, with improved coding, the ability to build complex agents and improved browser use features.

In the ethical space, an Australian lawyer was sanctioned after submitting AI-generated legal citations that turned out to be fabricated. Read Here

One of the big consulting firms was required to issue a partial refund to the Australian Government for delivering a report with AI-generated errors. Read Here

And two physiotherapists, also in Australia, have been caught up in a tribunal case thrown out, in part due to errors in AI-generated letters. Read here

Research

AI & Gamification for Workforce Learning

A new pilot cross-sectional study in JMIR Serious Games tested an AI-enabled, gamified mobile app (GAIN MHI) with maternal care providers (midwives, doctors) in Lebanon. Here’s what stood out:

  • 85% were satisfied with the app’s interface and content.
  • Engagement averaged 64.6%.
  • 92% said the gamification + AI features made learning more enjoyable.

Qualitatively, clinicians highlighted diverse content, ease of use and motivation to keep learning.

Why this matters for allied health:

This study suggests that adaptive, gamified, bite sized learning could make professional development more enjoyable for clinicians. While enjoyment isn't the same as learning outcomes, when people are engaged in training it often leads to better participation, stronger retention and more confident application in practice. It will be valuable to see future research track these measurable outcomes alongside engagement.

Prompt:

Act as a digital health product designer. I want to create a simple AI-powered assistant that helps clinicians with (task). Suggest a concept name, value proposition and 3-step user flow.
